All H-1 applications must be initiated by the hiring department. RBHS departments wishing to sponsor a foreign national for the H-1B status must:
- Complete and submit the Internal Application for Temporary Worker Status (H-1). The application must be accompanied by the required documentation listed on page 2 of the form.
- Ensure that all supporting documentation has been officially translated to English. A list of supporting documents can be found on page 2 of the applicant form.
Once International Services has reviewed the application and verified that the prospective employee meets the criteria for the H-1B status, the application (Form I-129) will be filed with the USCIS, along with the supporting documents. Upon adjudication of the case, written notification is sent to International Services. International Services will in turn notify the hiring department and the prospective employee of the USCIS’ decision. The approval notice and a copy of the application (form I-129) will be provided to the prospective employee.
