Information on the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)

As a result of the New Jersey Medical and Health Sciences Education Restructuring Act, on July 1, 2013, most schools and units of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), transferred to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

The following schools, units, and existing faculty practices are now part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

The Act also provides for the following changes.

The School of Osteopathic Medicine is now part of Rowan University.

University Hospital in Newark is a freestanding institution with its own board of directors.

University Hospital is a principal teaching hospital for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
