Recruitment of the Inaugural Director of Global Health for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and Henry Rutgers Professor of Global Health
April 1, 2015
Dear RBHS colleagues:
Chancellor Strom has asked me to lead a search to fill the new position of Director of Global Health for RBHS and Henry Rutgers Professor of Global Health (professor, tenured). The recently formed search committee and I would like your assistance in identifying candidates for this position.
The Director of Global Health for RBHS will lead the many global health activities that are currently underway throughout RBHS, working and coordinating with global health leaders in each of the RBHS schools and working with Joanna Regulska, vice president for global and international affairs, to form a cohesive, universitywide global health program.
Applicants must have an MD, DMD, PharmD, or PhD degree (or international or other equivalent), a minimum of five years of experience in developing and leading international programs, and credentials for appointment as a tenured professor in one of the eight RBHS schools. Preferred candidates will have substantial leadership experience; a strong track record of success in funded research; demonstrated effectiveness as an administrator; an appreciation of the teaching mission; a history of working across and integrating with multiple schools and programs; and commitment to the cultivation of individual donors, foundations, and corporations for purposes of development. The position will report directly to Chancellor Strom and indirectly to Joanna Regulska.
Advertisements have been published in a number of journals and on online job boards. However, the search committee members and I believe that the strongest applicants are likely to be found through personal contacts. Therefore, please distribute this message widely, referencing the full position description that can be found on the RBHS Chancellor open leadership searches web page. Please also submit nominations to Tom Kelly, who is assisting me and the committee with the search. We will follow up by contacting nominated individuals and encouraging them to apply. All nominations and submissions will be treated confidentially.
We are very excited about the opportunity to enhance our global health programs and activities across RBHS and Rutgers as we seek to become a global health leader. We anticipate that this message will lead to nominations of strong candidates. If you have other suggestions during the search process, please feel free to contact me or any member of the search committee.
