Rutgers Health Group Updates
February 14, 2017
Dear Members of the RBHS Community:
As you know, Rutgers Health Group (RHG), the integrated faculty group practice of Rutgers University, was formally incorporated and inaugurated in October of 2016. RHG unites the clinical skills and talents of approximately 1,000 clinical faculty from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, University Behavioral Health Care, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, and the School of Nursing. The faculty practice name, Rutgers Health Group, will be used for internal purposes only, with all patient care provided by the group delivered under the brand name Rutgers Health.
Since RHG's inception, its leadership has been actively working, with the assistance of national consultants, to implement its representative governance structure, further develop a practice management infrastructure to support innovation and quality initiatives, strengthen our relationships with hospital partners and clinical affiliates, and optimize managed care agreements across the clinical enterprise.
Recently, in addition to the initial 15 members of the RHG Board of Trustees, five clinical department chairs have joined the Board. The clinical department chairs from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School are:
- Dr. Leonard Lee, Chair of the Department of Surgery
- Dr. Alfred Tallia, Chair of the Department of Family & Comunity Medecine
The clinical department chairs from the New Jersey Medical School are:
- Dr. Joseph Benevia, Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics
- Dr. Marc Klapholz, Chair of the Department of Medecine
The clinical department chair from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is:
- Dr. Steven Morgano, Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry
In the near future, we will be announcing a further nomination and appointment process to name the final nine trustees from our clinical faculty at large.
We are planning events in March/April on each RBHS campus to celebrate our continuing development of RHG. This will be the first step in what will grow to be a statewide marketing and communications campaign to promote Rutgers Health, our public facing brand, which will ultimately reach the community throughout New Jersey and the broader region. It also signifies our continued development of a truly integrated, interprofessional faculty group practice plan that will anchor a top-tier academic health center in collaboration with our affiliated hospitals and community partners.
We are excited to begin unveiling a unifying brand architecture that will become synonymous with our commitment to quality and excellence, inspiration from innovation and discovery, and demonstrates our dedication to keeping populations healthy. Together with our affiliated hospitals, community partners, faculty, staff, and students, we will create the model academic health center of the 21st century.
The practices composing RHG will all use the following brand mark:
Thank you for your continued dedication to RBHS, our missions, our patients, and the communities we serve.
