A New Approach To Oral Presentations For Night Float Admissions
The authors of this interesting viewpoint propose a new purpose and structure in presenting night float admissions. Rather than adhering to the traditional approach of providing a comprehensive overview of the initial patient evaluation, the resident presenting a night float admission provide a brief and edited synopsis of initial data with a focus on decision making, interval reassessments, and systems-based care. The accompanying table in the article provides some guidelines for how expectations for the night float presentation may be changed. It would be useful to see if such a change results in improved communication, learning, and patient care.—Sarang Kim, MD
