Chapter Four

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I RECEIVE AFTER APPLYING FOR AID?

If you have a current email on file, and your FAFSA was processed successfully, you will receive an email notification from the Central Processor with instructions on how to access your electronic SAR (Student Aid Report). If you do not have an email address, or you submitted a paper FAFSA, you will receive a paper copy of the SAR.

You can print a copy of your SAR for your records by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov and request one by selecting Print “SAR” from the left navigation bar.  Please note: you will need your PIN to access this request form.

You may also receive a request for supplemental documents from the Financial Aid Office. Some of the documents requested are for reference; others are required to determine your level of eligibility or to disburse financial aid.

FORMS AND CORRESPONDENCE

Incoming Students:
If additional items are required “A Missing Information Letter” detailing the additional items needed mailed to the student's mailing address on file. (The Financial Aid Application asks where you want your Financial Aid mail to be sent.)  It will detail the documents/questions necessary to finalize your financial aid award. Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences (RBHS) Financial Aid Forms are accessible online to print by clicking here for Useful Forms.

All requested documents are mailed to the Office of Student Financial Aid requesting them.

After the applicant receives his/her RBHS email address, he/she is advised to visit their MyPortal.rutgers.edu account to view and determine if additional items missing.
 
Continuing Students:
Required to check their MyPortal.rutgers.edu account to view their Missing Information Letter.  RBHS Financial Aid Forms are accessible online to print and complete (click here for Useful Forms).

All requested documents are mailed to the Office of Student Financial Aid requesting them.

Incoming Students NJMS, RSDM, RWJMS only
An award letter is mailed to current mailing address.  If any changes i.e. increases or decreases needs to be made, the student required to sign and return the award letter to the Student Financial Aid Office immediately with the necessary corrections.  A revised and/or final award letter will be mailed later in the Summer.  Students are required to check their MyPortal.rutgers.edu email address and their MyPortal.rutgers.edu for correspondence and award notification from the Student Financial Aid Office.

Incoming Students and Continuing Student – non RSDM, NJMS and RWJMS
All award letters for 2013/14 are viewed online via the MyPortal.rutgers.edu. If any changes i.e. increases or decreases needs to be made, the student must notify their counselor in writing.

Verification Worksheets
If you are selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you’re required to complete and submit the applicable VERIFICATION WORKSHEET to the Student Financial Aid Office requesting them.

Verification of Sibling, Spouse or Dependent Post-Secondary Enrollment
This form is requested if a student needs to clarify information concerning siblings, spouses or dependents attending post-secondary institutions. This form must be completed by the registrar at the institution being attended by sibling, spouse or dependent and returned to the Student Financial Aid Office requesting them.

Financial Aid Release Form
Allows the Financial Aid Office to release internal official information regarding a student’s finanaical aid entitlements to the individual or party provided on the form.

Dependent Childcare Expense
For students who have expenses for dependent children or family members, additional documentation required.

Additional Financial Information and Untaxed Income
This form list and identifies untaxed income reported on your FAFSA.  Verification required from Agency/party providing support.

Budget Re-Evaluation Form
This form is to be completed by students who expended in part or whole, their current academic year award. Expenses should be itemized on this form, and documentation submitted for each line item.

Parents' Non-Tax Filing Statement - SDM and NJMS requesting Title V11
For parents of students who do not file federal income tax and were not required to.

RBHS Financial Aid Award Letter
Upon complete review of your financial aid file, the Office of Student Financial Aid will finalize the packaging and awarding process. An award letter will be available for each student to review as follows:

FINANCIAL AID AWARDS WILL NOT DISBURSE UNTIL ALL REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION RECEIVED, REVIEWED AND APPROVED.

RBHS Appeals Process
Your request for an Appeal for additional funds must be submitted in writing.  Photocopies of receipts/bills to support your request.

The financial aid staff will review your request and inform you of their decision.
