Komal entered the Urban Systems PhD program, in Urban Health track in 2016. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Drew University in Madison, NJ: a Bachelors in Biological Anthropology with a minor in Public Health in 2012 and a Masters in Medical Humanities 2014). Komal was inducted into the Lambda Alpha Anthropology Honor Society in May 2012.

Before beginning her PhD work, Komal held an administrative assistant position in NonInvasive Cardiovascular Services at Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at the Morristown Medical Center from 2008 to 2016. From 2012 to 2014 Komal was a Graduate Residence Coordinator at Ramapo College of New Jersey. In 2014 she joined the New Jersey Institute of Technology as a Residence Coordinator, where she focused on community engagement and interaction, incident and on call duty response. In addition to working towards her Ph.D degree, Komal is working as first year seminar instructor for Biomedical Engineering Freshmen. Komal’s research interests include holistic and community preventative healthcare.
