Dorothy J. Knauer is a non-profit leader and community advocate. She served on staff at Protestant Community Centers, Inc. and Community Agencies Corp of NJ (CACNJ) for 30 years as Deputy Director and the last five years as Executive Director. During her tenure more than 15,000 volunteers and 24,000 Newark youths and families have been involved in one or more of PCCI/CAC’s programs under her leadership. Creating and sustaining vibrant partnerships with Newark Public Schools, faith-based, community, higher education and corporate institutions is one hallmark of her youth advocacy work. Ms. Knauer has developed, implemented, and helped sustain several ‘model’ programs including: the largest and oldest volunteer tutoring and mentoring program for school-age youth in NJ; a national demonstration project for HIV/ substance abuse affected families and abandoned infants; Quitman Community School, a full-service school; and Community Partners for Youth, a one-stop youth services collaboration. Ms. Knauer has served as a consultant with a variety of community non-profit and educational organizations.

Ms. Knauer is a member of Zonta International and serves on the executive board of the Newark Mentoring Coalition. She resides in Newark.
