Hyacinth entered the PhD program in Global Urban Studies track in 2016. She has a bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies and Political Science from Brooklyn College, CUNY and a masters degree in Political Science with a concentration in Womens and Gender Studies from Rutgers University – Newark.

Hyacinth is an instructor in the departments of African American and African Studies and Political Science at Rutgers–Newark and a lecturer in the Department of Latino and Caribbean Studies at Rutgers-New Brunswick. Her research interest is immigrant political Incorporation and Immigrants in elected office.

Hyacinth’s recent presentation include: “Transnational Migration and Haitians in the United States: A Demographic Report at the 41st Caribbean Studies Association Conference in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in June 2016
