Urban Health



Wendy Ritch earned her BA from Mount Holyoke College in Politics and Religion, her MTS from Harvard in Theology and Women’s Studies in Religion,and her MA from University of Massachussets -Amherst in Political Theory and American Politics. She was hired at UMDNJ in 2001 as a faculty member in health systems and policy. Since then she has served as a member of the faculty, staff and administration in three schools at the University. Wendy has a background in health policy research, teaching, grant writing, program evaluation, all-hazards preparedness training and administration. She is also a musician and visual artist whose portfolio can be found online.

Wendy's research interests include health policy, academic integrity, population health, social determinants of health, LGBTQ health equity and cultural competance education for health professionals. Her tobacco-related publications can be downloaded for free via PubMed. In 2011 Wendy founded the interprofessional LGBTQ Health Working Group at the UMDNJ School of Nursing and was a member of the planning committee for the 8th National LGBTQ Health Equity Summit, an official ancillary of the National Conference on Tobacco or Health, in 2012. Wendy enjoys being an agent of change and hopes that her work in the Urban Systems program will help to promote health equity for sexual and gender minorities as well as for all those who experience health disparities.
