Monique King-Viehland is the Director of Area Development and President of Campus Gateway Development, Inc., (CGD) a subsidiary of NJIT. CGD’s mission is to promote and effectuate area development, aesthetic improvement, quality of life and the redevelopment and rehabilitation of University Heights. She is responsible for implementing and managing the Campus Gateway Redevelopment Project, a large scale, mixed-use, real estate and community development project.

Previously Mrs. King Viehland was Executive Director of the Capital City Redevelopment Corporation (CCRC), a state agency charged with facilitating redevelopment in the Capital District of the City of Trenton. She also served as Special Assistant to Deputy Chief of Staff Jeannine LaRue for Governor Corzine where she worked on urban redevelopment projects and initiatives in Camden, Trenton and Newark and as Senior Director of Small & Medium Size Business Development with the Governor’s Office of Economic Growth. Before returning to New Jersey to join the Corzine Administration, she was President and Founder of E2 Consulting, LLC, a real estate development consulting firm, Director of Housing for the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, and a Housing Development Specialist for the Mon Valley Initiative.

In September 2009, Mrs. King-Viehland was inducted into the State of New Jersey’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission inaugural Academy of Leaders in recognition of her commitment to contributing to society in the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. She is a 2010 Leadership Trenton Fellow, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a former member of the I Am Trenton Community Foundation Board of Trustees and a former member of the Trenton Downtown Association Board of Directors

Mrs. King-Viehland has a Masters of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie
